Alaa K. Sarout is a pharmacist, university instructor, healthcare professional, and governance leader based in Lebanon. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy Practice from Lebanese International University (ACPE-accredited), a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from Lebanese International University, and a Master of Science (M2 Research) in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Lebanese University. She also holds an international certification in Pediatric Nutrition from Thomas Jefferson University.
Alaa serves as a Course Instructor at the School of Pharmacy and School of Business at the Lebanese International University (LIU), where she teaches Pharmacy Management and Marketing, Pharmacy Career Planning, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Laboratory, Organizational Behavior, Business Ethics and Decision Making, Strategic Negotiations, Leadership, Management Innovation and Business Management. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of scientific knowledge, leadership, innovation, and professional competencies to prepare students for the evolving healthcare and business sectors.
Her academic interests include healthcare management, pharmaceutical quality assessment, pharmaceutical biotechnology, pharmacy education, pediatric nutrition, and health systems strengthening. She actively contributes to curriculum development, student mentorship, program assessment, and quality assurance initiatives that support academic excellence and accreditation standards.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Alaa plays an active role in strengthening university–industry collaboration. She has coordinated major career development and engagement initiatives at LIU, including THE BRIDGE workshops and employment engagement programs, as well as the university’s Annual Job Fairs. Through these initiatives, she helps connect students and graduates with employers, healthcare institutions, and industry leaders, enhancing professional development, workforce readiness, and meaningful partnerships between academia and industry.
Beyond academia, Alaa has extensive experience in public health and healthcare governance across primary healthcare centers, governmental institutions, and international organizations. She has contributed to accreditation, quality improvement, and service delivery for vulnerable populations, and has led training programs to strengthen healthcare workforce competencies and support health systems strengthening at the community level.
Her work reflects a sustained commitment to advancing pharmacy practice, healthcare education, and system-level improvement through leadership, collaboration, and applied research.
